"My money story started with a tradition handed down from my grandmother.

When my mother was a young girl and would head to the shops with my grandmother, like most kids, she wanted to buy things. My grandmother used this as an opportunity to teach her about the value of a dollar and a way to understand money and budgeting.When I came along my mother used the same strategy with me so that as a young child I started my journey to financial literacy early. As a teenager my mom would sit with me as she would complete her budget on a monthly basis. I would also write out the cheques (which she would sign) and go with her to make the payments, ensuring that the receipts I received matched the payments which we had made.

Now, I use the lifelong learning as my basis for my business. Through my business, Financially Empowered I essentially do what my mother and grandmother did for me, only on a larger scale and much more in depth with other women around the world.Not everyone gets the financial literacy base that I got so I love that I can now use my skills and knowledge to help improve the financial literacy of women and empower them to make positive choices in their lives."
